Warning - pic heavy post!

Listening to: Twerp the parakeet smacking her bell around.

"Stupid human."

The last couple of days I've worked from home, and like it VERY much. Not only does it save gas(!) but I seem to get more done. Fewer interruptions, fewer distractions, and I can change the thermostat when I want. It's freezing at work, and even wearing a second shirt, my arms are constantly goosebumped.

First thing in the morning - about 6:30 - I get a big mug of hot tea ready and sit on the deck for a short knit before firing up the work computer.

At home, the transparent apples are ripening. The tree is loaded, and even branches that broke during the ice storm (we haven't gotten to those yet) are even more weighed down. Daniel and I picked up a 5-gal. bucket for Mom, and she's got some lovely quarts of applesauce sitting on the counter. Ron's mom made some too, but she freezes hers. There are still so many apples left on the tree.

But we share...

There were four of these little guys hiding amongst spare haywagon tires, munching on apples. This was the bravest of the bunch.

And finally, some handwork.

The sweaters are for Crystal's twins. The sweater pattern is a freebie from Classic Elite, the yarn is Provence cotton. It was a breeze to work with, no splitsies, and blocked beautifully. The hats were from the leftovers, and there's plenty of yarn still.

The fabric tucked under is for smocked dresses to match. The pink one is cut out already. I'm thinking they'll need some ribbon trim on the hem, or maybe some little fabric flowers. Or both? Always fun to play around.

I've also made a few cotton bibs from Mason-Dixon Knitting book - they make good busywork and I don't have to watch my hands with them. I started a scarf from Seduce by Berroco in Passementerie Green. It's a flingy, slinky scarf, not for warmth, but geez, it was tough to find a stitch pattern that would work with it. The yarn is 'hard' with no give at all and almost wirey. I finally settled on tried and true... one repeat width of Feather & Fan. Ho hum. But it shows the yarn off nicely while still being easy to work.

And that's about it!
