I've been working on a few sewing things lately. First up is a mermaid doll. Just a regular stuffed doll with a 'skirt'. The tail is made from a wide vinyl ribbon printed in fish scales. The colors are much prettier, more purples, than the photo shows. The hair is two different leftover fingering-weight yarns from a shawl last year. I picked the shells up on the beach in Florida. They are glued on iridescent organza ribbon, and tie behind the neck and back. I plan to make some other clothes too, and at some point need to find some aqua clear or silver beads to randomly strand through the hair to look like water bubbles.
Next are two bunny friends. The knitted one is Little Baby Bunny, free from Ravelry. He's made with (more!) leftover Galway Worsted yarn. Sewn is Mini Bunny Doll, another freebie from Sweetbriar Sisters. It may need a little twirly skirt before it's done.
Also finished is 20 quilt blocks for a twin bed. When stores have a better stock of solid fabrics, I'll pick up sashing. I suspect I can find plenty of short bits to piece together a scrappy back. The blocks are pinks and greens from two sets of fat quarters (from the stash) and some pink solid that is a perfect match.
