Listening to: Rusted Root Weed (import/live)
I pulled out the denim blue shawl this morning before work and made 3 rounds. It's addictive, and I keep telling myself 'I'll quit at 7.... ok, I'll quit at 7:10 then I have to get going!... hmm... just another 5 minutes... I absolutely have to stop at the end of this round... ' and so on. It doesn't help that each round is 698 stitches at this point. I don't even want to do the math. The design is from Meg Swansen's Gathering of Lace, the Feather and Fan round shawl. The wool is slightly lighter than fingering, but heavier than lace-weight - it's going to be pretty substantial.
Yesterday on the way home, Barnes and Noble called my name, and I ended up with the new Mason Dixon knitting book. I've been wondering what to do with a nearly full ball of Misty Lilac Kid Merino from Crystal Palace (left over from the the Kiri Shawl). In the book is a very cool scarf alternating 3 or 4 rows of a very lightweight yarn with a single row of wide ribbon yarn, done on humongous needles (19, I think).
But... no starting new projects until I finish some of the many already started. The denim blue shawl is one, and there's a baby blanket from knitty that sort of came to a standstill. The last couple of days I've been working like a madwoman on it, bringing it to work with me and knitting at lunch. Mindless stuff, stockinette stitch, with the saving grace of changing colors every few rows.
