Listening to: Warren Zevon Genius
Saturday I drove Mom down to Paducah for the Int'l Quilt Show. On the way, we stopped off at a yarn shop (where I managed to leave my debit card) and I got some ribbon yarn for a project. Yeah yeah, I know I wasn't going to start anything new, but this DOES use up some of the stash as well, so I'm allowed. Of course, the shop couldn't be open on Monday, so I can't call to get my card mailed back to me. UGH.
So - the quilt show. Some years I am so enthused about the work and the vendors and spend plenty of money on 'stuff' but this year, while the workmanship of the quilts was phenomenal, nothing really jumped out and smacked me in the face. The vendors seemed to have the exact same thing as last year, and nothing I couldn't pick up locally or in St. Louis. Which is why I didn't notice my card missing til I got home.
Ron and I went out Sat. night to one of our regular haunts, and had good service from Brian (the best waiter!). Food was tasty, beer was great, and Brian harassed us often. When we got home, Daniel and I stayed up watching SNL (a collection of Robert Smigel cartoons!). Yesterday we milled around in the book store for quite a while, and I had brought knitting along so had a chance to work on Wild Stripes and enjoy a good cup of coffee. At home I worked a little on the new project - a Squiggle scarf from the Mason-Dixon knitting book. I'm using 19 needles and good grief! it's like knitting with railroad ties! Going back to 6s on the baby blanket felt like I was wielding toothpicks.
