Catching up

Listening to: Birdsong, tractor engine, and sandblasting

Yeah, strange combo, I know. Anna is working on her truck, using the *new* (bought at an auction sale) big air compressor. She's a mess, but she's having ahem a blast.

I've been gallyvanting around lately, to St. Louis, then to Florida to visit friends and family, and I just got back to town Wednesday. I love Florida, and I love to travel, but there's just something grand about getting back to my own house smells, to familiar/family sounds, to taking a bath in my own bathtub, and sleeping in my own bed. Sis Patty collected me from the airport, and after feeding me dinner, she sent me home with several plants - candymint, catnip, passionflower vine, chives, walking onions, and I am sure there's something else but my brain is blank.

While I was away, I got quite a bit of knitting done. I finished one of the stargazer socks, and I'm about halfway done on the second one (just now getting to the heel flap). I got several rounds on the denim lace shawl while on the plane (circular bamboo needles fly well). I also picked up a Ray Bradbury book, The Cat's Pajamas, a collection of short stories that haven't been published before. I'm about half through it. Before leaving for FL, I also got all of the knitting part of the Wild Stripes baby blanket done; still need to block, back and do the decorative quilting stitches.

Anna and I went to the farmers' market this morning and picked up some pepper and eggplant plants, and a couple bars of handmade goatmilk soap. Later we went to town for a few groceries and a bit of lunch. I just finished putting up 8 jars of strawberry jam. mmmmm

Well... time to get some stuff planted! It's GOOD to be home. :)
