err something like that anyway. This morning I pulled half a row of beets, probably not that much since I only got the bigger ones, and I scrubbed and topped them. Eight pints are now pickled and sitting in a hot water bath. Mmmmmm. But who planted so dang many beets, that's what I'd like to know!
Anna has a friend ready to pop out a baby girl any day now, and she asked me to make something to give. I had enough of a very pale lavendar alpaca/merino/cashmere blend fingering weight yarn to make a pair of slippers and a ballet-type cardi from Simple Gifts for Cherished Babies, and this afternoon I finished the knitting. Just a couple of seams and whipping on some ribbon ties and the set will be all done. So much for not getting sidetracked with other projects. ;)
It's not all her fault either - on the way to St. Louis last weekend, I picked up a yummy skein of Opal sock yarn. The colors make me think of neopolitan icecream with chocolate syrup - rosy pink, tan, cream, and dark brown. After finished Daniel's socks (pic coming soon), I started on the icecream socks, and have one already past the heel shaping. And I have enough yarn for another squiggle scarf in bright yellows/orange/mango shades... plus I keep plugging along on the denim blue shawl.
After it cools down a little I need to get out and stick some plants in the ground, maybe pull a few more beets. Right now it's just sweltering and drippy... ugh.
