Startitis

Listening to: State of Mind Raul Midon

My current lunch-time project is the blue Feather & Fan shawl. Rounds are up to nearly 1000 stitches, and I can get 2 rounds completed in an hour with no interruptions. Since I used larger needles and a slightly heavier yarn than the pattern calls for, I may finish it off shortly. It looks like it is already about 72 inches diameter stretching gently, so blocked will be HUGE.

With that prospect in mind, I couldn't resist starting Rosy Fingered Dawn. Yesterday evening I got it going, and this morning was able to switch over to the shorter circular needle. YAY!!! The wool is springy and soft, and the colors even more gorgeous than the photo.

One of the other secretaries here is going to be an aunt, and she asked me to help her figure out how to make a quilt. She wants it to be hand-pieced, something she can pick up in her spare time, and she does have plenty of time to get it finished. That got my fingers aching to do a little stitching too, so over the weekend I cut out pieces for 12 fan blocks. They are going to be fairly large - 15" - but that's fine. The corner 1/4 circle is a medium brown, and the fan 'blades' are prints in browns, dark greens, deep reds/rusts, and navy blues. I still need to package each block in ziplock baggies to carry along easily.

A couple of months ago I started a small flower bag from Omiyage, and for some reason it just didn't click. It was put aside, and Sunday I picked it up again and finished it. I've made several of these bags to hold small gifts, and they are so much fun - not sure why this one gave me a fit.

Ok... back to work! :)
