How long does stuffed last???

Thanksgiving was great except for the temptation to overeat. It started for me on Wednesday evening, baking pies - 2 pumpkin from scratch (but with frozen crust - I'm not a martyr). Thursday morning bright and early Ron helped me with the dressing and turkey, and we had the bird in the oven on time. I also made a batch of whole cranberry sauce and a bowl of a really good slaw (recipe from Donna - with broken ramen noodles, almonds and sesame seeds with a vinegar/oil dressing). Ok, Ron cut up the cabbage.

We headed to my mother's house for lunch, and there was a huge spread. My contribution to the meal was the slaw and dinner rolls, and one of the pies. Everything was just delicious as usual, and the 'girls' sat around the table later chatting for a while. Ron and I left at 2:30ish and by the time we got home the turkey was nearly finished. I sliced up the bird, made gravy, and we headed to his sister's for supper with those things plus the cranberry sauce, left-over slaw, second pie, and more rolls.

Yesterday the carcass was cooked down, and I made turkey veg/noodle/wild rice soup for dinner. It turned out rather tasty, and I noticed Daniel had a big bowl for breakfast this morning. Gotta love those left-overs. I also picked some lettuces - there are still plenty of plants that haven't been nipped by the cold - a red oakleaf, green oakleaf, and a buttercrunch loose heading type. The red is very striking in the bowl with all the green.

During my free time, between cooking, I cast on and knit a baby cardigan from some acrylic variegated yarn. It's Bernat Softee Baby, and as far as acrylic goes, it isn't too bad to work with. The pattern was a freebie off the Internet, and is knit top down with no seams. I gave it a steaming this morning, and it only lacks ties. Might even go with a loop and button closure - haven't yet decided.

Also this morning I finished working in the ends and fringing the Slytherin scarf. It was a nice quick knit, and my friend is already excited about it. I hope it's what he was expecting! Another project I'm working on is the Swallowtail Shawl from Fall (?) Interweave Knits, using some lace-weight singles from handpaintedyarn.com in the Curacao colorway. I love the way the yarn feels, much softer than I expected. And another shawl fell onto needles too - red Kid Merino from Crystal Palace. The pattern is from the new Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby. OH... what luscious lace projects! I couldn't wait to start something from it. And finally, a bolero vest from Lorna's Laces Bullfrogs and Butterflies in colorway Flames. Yummmmmm. It's going to be a quickie too - cast on the back yesterday and it's done, as is a few inches on one front. The only daunting part is the 300+ stitches that are knit circularly in rib all around the finished vest. But the colors... wow! Of course, there are still a couple pairs of socks in the works, and I'd like to get them and one more pair finished by Christmas. Oh yeah, and the Black Bird's Nest shawl is history. Sometimes there just isn't a flow to a project, too many mistakes, too much ripping, and you just know it's not going to work. So it is now in nice neat balls waiting for the *right* project to come along! Can't say I'm sorry, but I DO want to do a black shawl at some point.

So much to do, and yet here I sit!
