Lots of Nothin, Little of Somethin

We've been having some fantastic weather lately. Spring is definitely in the air. Over the weekend I purchased caladium bulbs and bleeding heart starts to pot up on my deck. They'll be supplemented with some hot pink and white impatiens. Hope there's enough room for me to sit! I did spend a couple evenings on the deck knitting and watching the neighborhood kids get out and play. There's a group of older kids that congregated on a lawn closeby and were having a great time out in the sun. Makes me smile to see people out goofing. It was even warm enough to sleep with the windows open two nights... and wow, did I sleep like the dead! Fresh air is a great tonic.

Project Status

Finished:

  • Navy Mountain Colors Socks - last Friday

  • Daniel's quilt top. Need to buy backing/batting

  • Four more blocks for a fan quilt. Ok, technically not a finished project, but heck, they ARE finished!

  • Painting my toenails

In Immediate Progress:

  • White baby afghan. Past the midway point! This is out of an ewww acrylic boucle, using the basic corner-to-corner dishcloth pattern. Not my favorite yarn to work with, but easy care for a mom. No baby in mind at this point, just getting rid of yarn in the stash.

  • Navy marl XXL Trekking socks for Ron. Started Friday evening after finishing the Mountain Colors socks.

  • Burgundy Boring sweater. Took this to knit group last night and got a good chunk of the front finished. The yarn turns my hands a lovely rosy shade.

  • Melon Shawl. About half done with the body, hoping there will be enough yarn. If not, the border would be nice in a solid navy to contrast with the teal blue heather (there's navy in it). Hm. Lots of navy projects...

As of Tuesday, we had 10 calves in the 'nursery.' One is a pale grey/tan with gorgeous black eyes. Its hair is curly, and from a distance it looks rather lambish.
