1. Dublin Bay socks are finished. Sometimes you should just trust
your instincts, knowing that 72 stitches is going to be too big, but the pattern may have taken up some of the slack (that's the thought anyway). No. They are fine in the leg, where there IS pattern, but the foot is rather oh... large. They are ok, but don't fit sleek and snug the way I like my socks. Live and learn.
2. Cast on plain-jane socks in Opal self patterning (lavendar stripe, white/black speckled stripe). Moving right along on them, and I KNOW they will fit. I wound a hank each of Jitterbug and Fleece Artist Sock, so those are waiting in the wings.
3. Body of Feb. Ladies Sweater complete. Sleeve #1 is ready for lower garter band. The fit is great, and I've already gotten some nice comments at knit group. I want to try another one in solid, maybe part cotton or bamboo to change the texture a bit.
4. Sewed buttons on the navy cardigan. It's done, waiting to be mailed to Daughter, but she mentioned needing an apron so I thought I'd sew one up to include with it.
In just a couple of hours I'm heading home for the weekend. And boy-o-boy am I looking forward to it! Hubbie has been working on clearing fencerows in the bottom ground, and we're intending (weather permitting) to have a bonfire with hot dogs and marshmallows. Yummm.
I'd also like to spend some time in the garden. Last weekend we picked up some more seeds - crowder peas, black-eye peas, pumpkin, muskmelon, zucchini, and winter squash (but I can't remember what kind). Oh, and some peanuts. Ron planned to leave a large part of the garden fallow this year, but I think it would be better for the soil to grow some type of nitrogen-fixing plants. That's what the peanuts and crowder/black-eyes are for. He isn't too keen on the idea, but if we just scatter the seeds, they should take over quickly and eliminate the need for tilling between rows.
Have a great one... I know I will :)
