Siiiiingin' in the Rain...

Listening to: Come On, Come On Mary Chapin Carpenter

Yes yes, finally got a new stereo so there's more music than just in my head. And the rain... mercy, it's been pouring since around 7:30. There have been a couple times this morning when it looked like dead of night, it was so dark, and all the automatic outdoor lights were on. It sure would have been a nice morning for sleeping instead of working, but coffee has done the trick, and I'm feeling a bit more alive.

I had a really great weekend at home. Had time to play in the garden after it dried out a bit. Next Friday I should be able to pick a mess of green beans. There are buds forming on the okra, pumpkin, zinnia, zucchini, cantaloupe and butternut; watermelons (volunteer) are already blooming; sunflowers are shoulder height; beets are walnut-sized. There are many other things up and running as well, aside from weeds!

Projects
Circle Socks - using Red Heart Heart & Sole Sock yarn with Aloe, color Green Envy. One done, past the heel on #2. At the start of the year I challenged myself to one pair a month... this is part of that, and I'm on track to making 12+ for this 2009.

Moonstone from The Knitter Issue 5 - no link available to the magazine contents. Being made from Cascade Venezia (70% Merino/30% Silk) in a deep olive. Peplum in feather & fan knitted in one piece on long needle, then sectioned off for knitting fronts and back separately. I've finished a front, the back, and about 3/4 of the other front. This yarn knits up beautifully and doesn't even feel like wool.

Also last week I cut out and sewed a rust linen sleeveless dress. Wore this weekend, very comfy and classic.

Last Wednesday I went with Dani, my favorite Maryland Yards waitress, and one of her roommates to the farmers market at Schlafly's and came away with a few goodies: a package of fresh local goat cheese mixed with herbes du provence, a bag of spring greens, a zucchini, a Cherokee Purple tomato, a loaf of artisan bread... all delicious!

That's all for now...
