Garden
Wishing the week was over so I could go home-a-home-home. Last weekend I planted most of the pots on the deck - cypress and cardinal vine, morning glory, a vivid fuschia geranium, marigolds, nasturtium (old seed), and a rosemary plant. One more long planter remains along with some assorted small pots, and I haven't decided what will go in them. Basil maybe. I also weeded the two raised beds, and guess what? There's good stuff in there! Some volunteer basil and marigolds! I picked up some cheap strawberry plants and hoping for the best with them. My daughter gave me a big bag of castor beans, and I planted several of those around the house for shade - they have yet to sprout so we'll see. I may be replanting. We have 4 rows of sweet corn, 2 of green beans (old seed that doesn't seem to be any good), plenty of tomatoes and peppers, and a row of okra. Lettuce and radishes have bolted and are now chicken food!
Knitting/sewing projects
Hexagon Afghan
Pattern: Arabesque
Yarn: I Love This Wool from Hobby Lobby
Modifications: Pattern calls for knitting each block flat, then sewing a seam. I cast on 2 fewer stitches (150 total) and knit in the round, knitting the purl rows on the chart.
Baby Blanket
Pattern: Dishcloth Baby Blanket
Yarn: Acrylic dk weight baby colors from stash. I got horribly bored with this after starting it SEVERAL years ago and let it lay. Then I needed the needle and just yanked it out, leaving the half-finished blanket shoved in a bag. Last Sunday after finishing the Hex Afghan, I needed something to work on and pulled this one out. Finished it last night! Woohoo! There's enough yarn to make a baby sweater or cap and booties down the road.
Swirl Shawl
Pattern: Swirl Shawl
Yarn: Jojoland, whatever is called for.
All for now... work break is over!
