After work I was feeling a bit crafty but needed to do something not-knitting. I KNOW!? Maybe I have a fever. I do have a baby afghan to finish for a gal at work, and my son felt I should make something for some friends who are expecting in the next couple of week. At least this one is a girl so I can have fun making something pretty. But those will have to wait - I was in the mood for something different.
So I pulled out some scraps. First is a Scrap Happy bag. I purchased this pattern before Christmas and made several for gifts with goodies inside. This month I noticed one of the quilt magazines has printed the instructions. At the top, a 3/4" tape measure is cut into lengths and slipped inside the casings to create a spring closure. I ended up with a 1" because the local hardware store had them for $5 - just had to make the casing a little wider. Just have to remember to set the lock on the tape measure. If you let go, the cut end of the tape slurps up inside and you have to take the case apart. This bag is the medium size in the pattern - approximately 5x6 1/2.

Second project is a little fabric bowl using this tutorial. You use a dinner plate for the circle, fuse fleece to one layer, then gather the top to whatever looks good and bind it. I love this fabric, but I'm down to pretty small scraps. Everything else I've made from it has been given away, so I may keep this for myself.
Sunday was my birthday. The weather was beautiful, and I played outside a little while. We all worked together to make dinner - Ron grilled a big salmon filet seasoned with cajun spices, I helped Daniel make angel hair pasta with a garlic/butter/herb sauce. Can you really call that a sauce? Anyway, it was tasty. We settled down to watch Lawless, and Daniel did the dishes!
