It's Raining Babies!

Last Saturday was my sis-in-law Danielle's baby shower. Anna and Mom drove up and we all met at Patty's to go over together. What a great shower!! I don't usually enjoy baby or bridal showers, but this was over the top. Everyone had such a good time, and there was yummy food too. Very few of the pics I took turned out decent. There was just too much movement for my cheapo camera. But here's Danielle and Anna. They are due just a week or so apart!!

I've also been busy with knitting and sewing. Danielle and Will decided to NOT know the sex of the baby, so it is currently referred to as "Critter". Makes it difficult to make things, but I decided to go with a yellow rubber ducky theme - found washcloths and a hooded towel, an actual rubber duck, a set of Burt's Bees baby goodies, and crocheted a little ripple afghan in bright yellow, royal blue, and blue/yellow/aqua variegated cotton. Stuffed it all in a basket and forgot to take a picture of it.

I also finished up a couple of baby cardigans - a pink cotton/wool blend, a blue, brown, green, grey washable Liberty wool, and a cotton in pinks and aquas. Here's the last one. I'll have pics of the others when I find buttons that work.

The pattern is Helena from Knitty, and worked up so nicely. The picot hems are just lovely - so feminine!

Pet Peeves
There have been a couple of things that I've noticed quite a bit lately, and they really get on my nerves. Maybe I'm being too too picky, but here goes.

First. When people say "Honestly... " before starting to tell me something. Or "To be honest..." "To tell the truth..." Does that mean that they normally aren't honest? Do they LIE???? Just say what you say and mean what you mean. It's one of the reasons I don't care for Katy Perry's Brave. That, and the fact that the advert that uses it plays far too often.

Second. I hear this one at work quite a bit during seminars and webcast workshops. "Does that makes sense?" over and over. The speaker tells us just a fact or two, then says "Does that make sense?" I can understand this being used if they are very difficult facts, or the speaker is trying to pull two completely foreign items together to make a point, but that is rarely the case. Lately I've had a new team member shadowing me, and sometimes if I am confusing myself trying to explain an issue I will ask if I'm making sense, but I am acutely aware of how dumbed down it feels to hear that phrase over and over.

Last week I was primary on-call at work and didn't get home for the weekend. I'm really looking forward to getting home and seeing how the garden is doing. I know my roses need lots of work!
