No Idle Hands

Listening to: Ruth Brown - It's a Good Day for the Blues

This weekend I'm at the apartment working on-call, so I can't go too far or be gone too long in case there's a call. But it's been fairly slow (so far!), so I've finished up quite a few little things.

First is a baby quilt that was started quite some time ago, was done except hand stitching down the binding. So I put in some B B King and set to. Here it is:
Jaxon's Quilt
Basic nine patch Irish chain done in Civil War era prints. The design comes from the The Big Book of Baby Quilts by That Patchwork Place. Backed with plain muslin, machine quilted on the diagonal. It was an easy project, and I should have finished it up a long time ago.

And here it is draped on my deck. The photos aren't the best - it was overcast nearly all day yesterday, but I'm pretty proud of this finish.

Next finish is a baby cardigan. It was sitting around with no buttons for a long while. Ended up with coconut shell. The yarn is Liberty Worsted Washable wool, and the pattern is from a Liberty booklet of baby and children's items. It was an easy top-down raglan, no sewing up required unless you count the buttons!

I took these goodies over to visit my brother and his wife, and my newest nephew. Here is Jaxon Andrew. So so tiny. I'm amazed how tiny he is - just under 5 pounds. Like a sack of sugar! Seeing him in Will's hands while he was being changed was an amazing comparison. Little Jaxon has very long fingers, so maybe he'll grow up to be a bass player like his daddy.

Will made dinner - whole wheat linguini with sauce and the best tasting meatballs! We sat around watching sci-fi tv, all old shows like Batman and Wonder Woman (go Linda Carter!), and some cheesy western vampire flick - Curse of the Undead. Nothing more fun than making fun of campy movies! Sure gave me a giggle.

Wonder what's in store for today!
