Knit group was cancelled for this evening. With the temperature at 10, with a wind chill of -3, and promising to drop another 10 degrees by morning, this seemed like the best way to spend my time. I'd
put on a pot of beef veggie soup during a work break this morning and let it simmer all day. A hot fire, a glass of wine, great music, and a lap full of knitting is a perfect ending to the day. This is Cable Shawl using purple Homestead yarn, both pattern and yarn from Plymouth. It's almost finished, and will be a shop sample until next year.I've also been working on a small quilt, following the Elephant Parade quilt along on sewfreshquilt's blog. I came in a couple weeks late, but it didn't take long to get caught up. All the big and little elephants and the frog are finished! Can't wait til Monday.
Last weekend I worked, so stayed up at the apartment. I put together a heavy workbench that I'd bought at Harbor Freight just after the first of the year. It's been sitting in a box in the living room all that time, and I was tired of it. It went together pretty easily, only a couple of glitches ("with the help of an assistant..." and "you will need to drill pilot holes for this step" (I don't have a drill)). And the BIGGIE. All put together, dragged it down the hall, only to discover it was too long to make the turn into the spare bedroom. Took my bedroom door off - not exactly easy without "an assistant" - but even that didn't help. So drag the thing back to the living room to remove the legs. It worked! I could put the top up on edge and make the arc with no trouble.
For Christmas, I had other plans for my sister Patty's gift until I saw this and knew this was the right thing. Oh MY! They went SO fast. Pattern is How Cold Is It? by Drunk Girl Designs. The cream is a Coats sock yarn with aloe (can't remember the name of it). The green is "If a Tree Falls" by Vice Yarns. It must be a discontinued color - I don't see it on their website, and I dug it out of a bin in the closet.
