Listening to: Miracles - Jefferson Starship. Wow, what a delicious laid back hippie love song.
Through work today, I had the opportunity to volunteer for a Boys & Girls club mentoring event downtown. One of the local high schools bussed in about 40 kids, and we were each assigned 1 or 2 for job shadowing. We were first treated to a very moving talk by author Courtney Logan - "Shaped by Fire". I'm going to have to get his book - he is a local man who came from a rough background but went on to become an attorney. Then we took our assigned kids on a tour of the building, then back to our offices to chat and encourage. It was probably more of a learning experience for me than for the two girls I had, but it was interesting to hear what they expected about the job and the location. (aren't you afraid the building is going to fall down?) A couple of other employees and I took our kids up to the 32nd floor for a view of downtown. They probably would have been happy to spend the whole two hours there, looking down at the city and pointing out various buildings and roadways. Hopefully they will have a different perspective on many things besides the view.
I've been busy with so many things lately. Of course there was knitting for Christmas presents, and sewing nighties and dolls and quilts. I planned ahead and made a conscious effort to stay on a schedule so I wasn't putting in 'that last stitch' in the car on the way to whatever gathering we were headed to. Most things I didn't take pictures of, but I will try to get some when I have a chance.
Also for work, I have a goal to getting ITIL certification. There is quite a bit of study, then a test at the end for the certification. Trying to get work to pay for it...
Ron and I celebrated 35 years yesterday. We actually did the celebrating on Saturday night, with dinner at Gordonville Grill. Very tasty and relaxing.
That's all for now.
