Work
I went downtown to the office today. The early morning commute does not bother me; in fact, it is strangely meditative. The radio is usually on to the local NPR station for most of the drive, and I can hop in the express lane about halfway so there is very little traffic to deal with. It's just so.darn.COLD in the office!!!
I should remember to take a blanket or wrap with me, just to tuck around my legs or wrap around my arms, though it will look odd to be bundled in something woolie.
I am working on an Agile training course and had a class today about Kanban boards.
Though I've done something very similar on my own for years to manage craft projects, I didn't know it had an official name (To Do List!!!). The class gave some good pointers for managing them and getting the most out of them. I plan to incorporate some of the ideas.
Crafting
I worked on the cabled afghan at knit group tonight, and officially passed the halfway point. Over the weekend, I started back on my second Barn Raising throw. It is done with leftover sock yarn, and so far I have 25 complete. My first is 7x6 squares, and I am thinking this one could be bigger. We'll see how many yarn bits I have! It can always be put aside while I knit more socks, and I'm sure Mom has some left overs to give away.
Last Friday I finished a skirt - my go-to elastic/drawstring waist with a single tiered ruffle. It's a green cotton with hot pink and bright coral orange flowers, and matches a coral tshirt (I think Duluth calls it tangerine) that I just got on clearance. The only change I made from the usual was to add side seam pockets.
I am up here this weekend doing on-call. I would like to get the setting pieces cut and maybe start sewing for Grandma Ettling's quilt. She embroidered the blocks when she was young, and my mother passed them along to me. It has taken a while to finally decide how to set them and the prints/colors to do it with. I'll try to get a photo of the fabrics before starting to cut.
Homewise
Ricky was out early Saturday to continue work on the chimney, and I sat down with him to discuss the stone type for the face of it, what his charges are going to be, timeline, etc. Friday evening Ronnie notched out the roof for the chimney to move on up, and we're pretty much there now.
