August Deck Musings

Listening to: The bird subtly ticking his bell. Just barely.

Projects

I dug through some boxes in the spare bedroom closet and came across a couple nice finds. Above is Manos Maxima, a very lovely softspun wool. Just one ball. Enough to make a hat and mitts, free patterns from Ravelry.

Next was a hank of green/gold space-dyed worsted wool. Missing the label, but definitely wool... smelled sheepy when it got a good steaming at the end. It became the Brunswick Beanie, a very stretchy ribbed hat. Size second to largest (cast on 110 stitches). These will all go into the gift drawer for Christmas, though that Manos set is really REALLY tempting to keep for myself.

I also had three very squidgy brown bananas that miraculously turned into banana bread. With lots of pecans. I cut half for the neighbors. Certainly don't need a whole loaf of the stuff eyeing me, begging to be eaten.

This morning was a trip to the ortho doc for my left shoulder. He gave me a shot of cortisone and we've got physical therapy set up starting next Tuesday. Now... just need to get both knees fixed! Friday is the second visit to the dentist. I really needed to find one locally - even though I LOVE the one at Cape, it is very inconvenient to be 2 hours away. I like this guy (so far). First appointment was to get an impression of my mouth, this second one will be pulling the "stub" (I look like a hockey player. Or a meth head) and fitting the temporary bridge/crowns. Once the 'hole' has healed we'll get the whole works permanently.
Leaving you with a katydid, the visitor for today on my deck. It has been beautiful the last couple of days. Nice breeze, sunshine, and the temps are NOT mid-August. More like early May? There have been several days this month with the windows open and AC off. Good for the electric bill!!
