What’s New?

I’ve started the job at Home Depot, and I really enjoy it so far. The main drawback is that I am scheduled more weekends than I prefer, but that’s retail. I was aware going into it. But it does screw up family time.

Yesterday I took my car to be repaired. The rear wheel bearing was worn but of course it couldn’t be the same one as last year (still under warranty). That was quite a bill. They also checked out a tire that has plagued me with a slow leak for months. I could drive it for two weeks, then need to air it up. There was some corrosion on the rim which they fixed. I took off for knit group and 5 miles down the road the low pressure light popped on. So back to the shop again this morning. This time I walked to Ethiopia Coffee shop in the same plaza, had a delicious cup of coffee, and sat outside knitting in the sun. Somehow in that short drive I had picked up a nail. Glad they cover the repairs when you buy your tires from them.

This weekend is the Midwest Fiber Festival. I missed last year, and not exactly keen to go. The knit group ladies are planning to go together, and I work until 1:30. I am already worn out just thinking about it, and my pocketbook smarts a bit from the car repair anyway.

Projects

To be honest, I have just been so freaking tired that I haven’t gotten much done. Only because of my wait this morning, I was able to finish the fourth strip and begin the fifth on the Northeasterly Blanket. It’s looking so nice and scrappy, and the length will be good for couch tatering. I will just keep going until the width seems right.

I started on a cowl from the handspun gift yarn from Patty, using The Grind Cowl & Hat pattern. It’s a slip stitch pattern that creates bars that ‘move’ diagonally. The design is supposed to keep colors from pooling, and so far so good.

When I was south this last weekend, I came across several balls of navy cotton in a sport/ DK weight. Years ago I had made a short sleeved cardigan for Anna and bought way too much (sale much?), and there should be enough for a short sleeved top. Still auditioning patterns.

Maybe pics next time, no promises…
