Crankin’ Up the Heat

 This and that

We had a pretty good weekend except for the heat. Summer has arrived! Ronnie comes home wiped out and drenched in sweat, and I hope he is drinking plenty.

Work at the Home Despot (😁) is going well. Except for the drama! Oh my gosh. And the front end supervisor has built a text group of all head cashiers, and the dang phone vibrates constantly. I had to turn it off completely during church, not just set to silent, because the vibration was making me crazy. And I refuse to respond when I am not on the clock. $15/hour is not nearly enough to encourage me to do that.

Before leaving town, I stopped by the Jackson Farmers Market and picked up a few things. There were some new vendors along with a few regulars. I got 3 small bars of goat milk soap, two bottles of Missouri maple syrup, a gorgeous slicing tomato and a small zucchini, a bunch of little white onions and a few peaches with deep red-black skins that smell heavenly. I’m thinking a baked pasta dish with zuke slices, tomato sauce, and mozzie cheese. And the sliced tomato for grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches. Oh yeah.

Rebecca, Patty and I spent a whole day over at Mom’s packing up and photographing teapots, and starting through her clothes. We filled a large box of clothes for Teen Challenge, along with a big box of glassware and funky dishes that none of us want. Some items went with Becky to sell at the MC group’s yard sale to help with their donation program. Then Ronnie was off work last Monday for rain and we packed up and dropped off more clothes. It’s going to take a while to go through everything, but I would really like to clear out their bedroom so Joe can start thinking about moving in. The antique walnut bed and dresser go with me - that’ll be a big thing out.

Projects

Completed a dress for Caroline to match Caden’s shirt. This little gal never stops.

I am getting close to a finish on two items.

First is the Northeasterly coverlet. After laying it over myself, I have decided that I am on the very last column. Just coming up on the halfway point of it, then about half of the ends to work in. It’s a great project for knit group since there’s very little thinking involved.

Second is The Grind Cowl out of handspun gifted to me by Patty. I am on the last few rounds of ribbing! With luck, it will be finished tonight.

Also on the needles U for Me pullover in navy sport weight cotton. I had to rip and restart, and it’s chugging along well. The yarn is from stash, left over from a short sleeved cardigan I knit for Anna years ago. Why I bought so much yarn, who knows. There is another cotton T planned, but want to get one finished first!

The third Barn Raising afghan blocks are all complete and need the crocheted border. That’s another future project. Along with enough to last till eternity. I wonder if there is fiber in heaven…
