This and that
I worked the early shift today, ending 11:30. Management was cooking hamburgers and hotdogs, and provided potato salad and cookies as well.
Yesterday morning I had an MRI with the contrast dye. I do fine with the whole process except starting the IV. They say not to eat or drink after midnight, but by morning I am a little dehydrated and my veins get weird. First stick, the vein blew. Move to the other arm, and the vein rolled. I could even feel it squirm away. So back to the first arm down toward the wrist, new person takes over, who is determined, and just keeps (cough) digging and chasing, ouch, and finally gets it. Boy o boy, are my arms bruised! Looks like I have been fending off demons.
This evening I am hoping to find a spot on this side of the river to watch fireworks. There’s no way I want to fight the crowds at Riverfest in St. Charles. Last year they were flooded out so expecting record crowds this year. The weather should be perfect.
Rebecca and I met at Mom’s house to go through more stuff. We finished wrapping the teapots and they are all boxed up. We worked on Dad’s desktop, tossing electric bills from the last 12 years and other totally unnecessary plunder. Levi repaired the fuel line on the old LeSabre that is TODd to Patty. It’s a decent car, clean and in good shape, but a gas hog. We are encouraging her to take it to use for a trade in or just to sell outright. She needs a vehicle anyway since the Subaru and a big buck met on the interstate.
Projects
The Northeasterly Blanket is finished, mostly. After laying it out for a pic, I noticed one end not woven in. And I will be blocking it. But the size is right for a nap coverlet, even for me.
The next ‘big’ project on the needles is U For Me, the navy cotton pullover. The sleeves are now on hold as we go roundie roundie on the body. While a little boring, it makes perfect work for knit group - no real thinking involved.
I also want to get back to the Barn Raising Quilt (afghan). This is my third one, all squares are knitted and blocked, and a few have the crochet border added already. The rest need to be completed, then build the blanket. It will be a Christmas gift. Assuming it gets finished!
A finish is The Grind Cowl. Needs a wash and block.
That’s all for now. Have a great holiday!
