Warmer days

Today was absolutely beautiful. Warm enough for just a sweater. Saturday on my drive down to the farm it was pretty dreary. But I did stop at a shop and check out a new sewing machine. The sales lady Diana, called today with a really great price and rebate, but they have wonky hours, so I have to wait till Saturday to pick it up. Yes, it is another Pfaff. I really like the way they handle.

The daffodils are really up and blooming, and some of the old fashioned. So are the  spring beauties and henbit in the yard. Some of the fields are just a mass of purple with the henbit! Ron and I stood under the apricot tree that’s in full bloom, listening to the  bees doing their thang! On the drive up there is roadwork on the interstate with ever-changing lanes and driving patterns, but I take an earlier exit and go up a state highway to bypass it all. To get from that highway back to the interstate, there’s a short drive through some woods, and this evening I saw the first little brown bat of the season flitting around high up between the treetops. And there’s a faint green mist when you look out through the woods - the leaves are just barely peeking out.

I am so so so ready for warmer weather! And we switched to Daylight Savings Time last night, so more daylight. It’s all good. 😄

Projects

Maja: A free cardigan pattern using Lettlopi. Colors are a red-rust, dark blue, sky blue, and an oatmeal for the main. It’s a bottom up, join with sleeves, then do the yoke, with colorwork along the bottoms of the hem and sleeves in addition to the yoke.

A baby blanket: A few weeks ago I had finished up all the projects I had taken down to the farm, so dug some leftover baby yarn out of a drawer, pulled a needle out of a very old project that will never be finished, and started knitting. I had light blue, white and pale yellow, so also ordered a mint green. Worked out my own color scheme, and it’s about 2/3 done now.

It goes without saying there’s a pair of socks in the works, but I keep them at work for lunchtime dalliance.

Coming up

Grace and Daniel are getting married in April. They asked if I would do the alterations on her dress, and they are simple enough. We also chose a cotton print to make a western shirt for Daniel. And if there’s enough fabric, one for Caden too.

Almost forgot, Ron’s boss gave out company hoodie sweatshirts, but Ronnie hates pullover. So I have a separating zipper on the way to install. He could really use it now. The pockets on the old one have such big holes that sometimes he loses an egg on the way in. Oh yeah, the girls are laying like it’s a competition so the knit group ladies are supplied with cheap fresh eggs. And I make enough cash to help pay for their feed.

That is all for now!
