Weekend Goodies

Yesterday morning the menfolk and I went to a home and garden show. It was... ehh... for the most part - lots of cooking demonstrations done by goofball men wearing little microphones to talk to what? one row of audience 3 feet away? Daniel cleaned up in the pencil/cheap yardstick/candy giveaway department. We did come away with some information about a relatively new type of forms used for concrete walls, made of extruded polystyrene and left permanently to add insulation value and a moisture barrier. Interesting idea, and a definite possibility if we decide on an earth contact/sheltered house (way down the line... ).

After the show we headed for the farm store for chicks! Yay! In my kitchen is a box with a dozen little peepers. I chose 6 black sex-link, 3 Plymouth Rock barred, and 3 French guineas. I've never had guineas, but I understand they are like watchdogs - noisy.

Another sure sign of spring is new calves. In the last two weeks, 9 have been born. Nine! Definitely means that 9 months ago (gestation for cows is the same as humans), Bullyboy was having a high time with his harem. heh.

That's all for now!
