Brrrrr

Listening to: Brothers in Arms Dire Straits

Sitting in my office, I'm sipping a big cuppa hot hot coffee, trying to warm up. The temp on the way into work this morning was 8. Ouch. But the sun was out, brilliantly so. Scorched-retina bright. I love my drive into town on mornings like this - the brown grass is decorated with diamond sparkles, steam rises from small ponds and ditches, and the sun coming in through the windshield warms the car up faster than the heater. On the way to let out the hens, I noticed that the black calves in the field next to the garden were still snoozing, laying in the grass, a thin film of white frost coating their sides. My old rooster Hopalong (he's arthritic and has lost a couple toe tips to frostbite over the years) was not happy about getting out, and I finally had to just pick him up and carry him. This pic is from last summer - he's gotten fatter and slower (huh, sorta like me...).

Back to work...
