This morning I heard some beagles baying across the road... this isn't an odd thing because some of the locals run their hunting dogs now and then, but it was obvious that they had something on the run. Just as I looked out the front door, they chased a coyote across the field and road, up through the front yard of the old house next door (we use it for storage), and Zoom! right in the screened front porch through a torn screen. Daniel and I went out and chased the dogs off - they seemed confused about the scent going into a house and kept circling back across the road, through the field, and into the yard. Daniel snapped a few pics of the coyote hunkered down behind an old chair on the porch.Had the day off for MLK's Day, and made good use of it so far. I worked on the red kid merino shawl, cleaned the bathroom, made a pan of brownies, filled out insurance forms for daughter, and did a little reading. For Christmas, my sis Rebecca gave me a book called Apron Chronicles, which is a collection of different people's recollections about aprons - thoughts about Gramma's or aunt's or even their own (a couple stories were by chefs). It's really interesting, and reading them brings a tear or two. :)
