Listening to: percolatin' coffee
The weather has been perfect the last week or so. We've been sleeping with the windows open and ceiling fans going, and some nights the down comforter gets snugged up around the chinny-chin-chin. Tuesday night I'd fallen asleep on the couch and was RUDELY awakened about 11:30 by hollering and squawking and slamming doors. Old man rooster hadn't gotten shut up properly and had decided to sleep the night on the back deck, just in front of the door. Daniel was in his room playing computer games, and he had a straight view of the door. A big ole raccoon came up on the deck and proceeded to drag Rooster off. Daniel jumped up hollering and screaming, running after them - the 'coon apparently paused for a moment to snarl then continued dragging... Ron got up and threw on a pair of jeans to go after them too. Luckily, after being towed off the deck, across the lawn, and past the driveway, Rooster finally got free with only a few lost feathers and some of his dignity, but with his head and neck intact. All the while I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is going on, my brain still fuzzy from sleep.
The baby cardie is still coming along - it's all sewn together, the neckband has been picked up and finished, now only front bands remain. This morning I opted to read for a few minutes instead of knit. Still working on the Opal socks too, and every time I pick them up, I'm reminded of watermelon sans rind.
Coffee is done... mmmm...
I've gotten on a roll with making beads - did a matching set for Mom's Mother's Day earrings. They are dark transparent blue with pale green transparent (set on white) triangles. Hard to describe, but I've done several of the same style, just different colors. Made them up with sterling beads and earwires, and even made a special stamped card for them, sort of like a matchbook. It still needs some tweaking, but getting there. Yesterday after Happy Hour with Dana at RiverNick's, I stopped off at a little boutique. Bought a pair of huge hoop earrings (seriously huge... 4"+!), but also looked around at what they offer. I asked the owner if she purchased local-made goods, and she was very excited when I told her I made glass beads and jewelry - gave me her business card and told me to bring some samples by. Very cool... I'd love to finally make some money off this hobby! I think some decorated felted bags would fit with her style of merchandise too.
Daniel works tonight, learns to close... this means I'll have some knitting time while I wait since he is only doing a couple hours.
