Dang but it's chilly! I'm such a fashion diva in my wool socks... right.

I've had trouble finding time to write this month, so this will be a catchup entry.

Vacation - took Ron to Branson for a long weekend starting Oct. 15. Thursday night was a dinner theater on the Showboat Branson Belle on Table Rock Lake. Dinner was good, show was fun. It was a nice relaxing evening. Friday we spent most of the day at Silver Dollar City watching the craftsmen doing their things: furniture building, steam driven baseball bat turning, glass blowing, cooperage, blacksmithing, basket making, etc. It was cold, cloudy, and spitting rain now and then, and even though we thoroughly enjoyed the demonstrations, it wasn't enough to go back on Saturday to use the 'next-day-free' tickets. We also went to Stone Hill Winery and took a tour/tasting. Friday night we got tickets to Grand Jubilee show (male quartet, VERY good), and ate at the adjacent buffet for dinner. Saturday morning we picked up picnic vittles, drove out to the dam, took a tour of the fish hatcheries, walked a path along Lake Taneycomo, stopped at the conservation building and ate our little lunch in the truck. Honestly, I think that was the best part of the trip! That evening we had tickets for the Dixie Stampede dinner and show, which was lots of fun as well. On our way home Sunday we stopped in Springfield to have lunch with the daughter and son-in-law. Jacob grilled steaks and jalapeno brats, potato/onion packets, and corn on the cob. Yum!

This weekend was nice too. We really didn't do much - checked the cows and calves, fed the catfish, cooked and had a meal out. I started pulling dead sunflower stalks but didn't get too far. They're almost like tree trunks, and I will probably need some assistance for the larger ones. I ended up on my butt tugging at a couple of them. I went to Mom's yesterday to work on Anna's quilt, and we're coming along well on it. I'd like to get it out of the frame BEFORE Christmas, and that's certainly do-able.

Projects
Geranio Malabrigo Lace Shawl - complete except blocking
Quant - thinking about adding tassels to the tie ends, otherwise complete
Lexeme Cardi - halfway up back
Daniel's Afghan - started 4th ball, left pattern at Mom's, so won't be working on that til next weekend.
Grey Zephyr Wool/Silk Shawl - yarn from the stash that asked to be made into something. Pattern is from Victorian Lace Today, but I can't find the book at the moment to get the name of the shawl. It's an easy diamond repeat, already memorized, and about 1/3 of the length finished.

I am also the owner of a spinning wheel. For all intents and purposes, it's new, never been put together, unfinished. Ashford Traditional. I got a pretty good deal on it. Now I have to decide how to finish it... some folk art painted hearts/flowers around the wheel? stain and wax? natural color with clear finish? I'm not rushing into this project since I have so many other irons in the fire, and I want to be happy with my choice!

Last but not least, a photo of two beautiful little gals modeling the pumpkin hats I made them!
