I suppose if you know you're being suckered but fall for it anyway, that's ok? Seems like every time I go into Barnes & Noble, there's some excellent music playing. I mosey on back to see what it is, and of course, they have a nice stack of them handy to SELL. I'm a repeat offender... I admit it. So when this CD started playing, I was hooked. Nice tactics, B&N, thanks.
Though it has been a while since the last update, I haven't been idle. The Compass Mittens were completed in January. These were my first serious attempts at 1) knitting with one yarn in each hand - picking and throwing 2) felting by hand. The pattern is from a recent Piecework magazine. Yarn is Lopi Lite in blue and a light grey.
I've also made two cowls from chunky yarn from the stash, old Lion Brand that was left over from pre-yarnsnob days. Yeah, I'll admit to that, though there are certain situations that require something completely washable.
And I finished another Ishbel in Pro Natura, blue/green mix, and a pair of Mini Mochi socks. Photos to come.
Work... the company decided not to renew the lease on the building I've been in to save money, and move us all downtown where there is so much unused space. I now have a wonderful window cubicle on the 9th floor, facing west. Plenty of room, bright light and airy, a beautiful city park across the street, lots of good restaurants within walking distance. And and AND... I've moved to a new team that is already very challenging. I love it! There are drawbacks to the move - I either have to drive downtown and pay to park, or ride the metrolink 45 minutes each way (can you say Forced Knitting Time!? woohoo). Another issue is basically a paycut. The city of St. Louis levies a 1% earnings tax, whereas Kirkwood did not. Gah.
All for now... time for a bath and some handwork.
