It's 4 am. I zonked out early last night, around 9, with the bedroom window wide open. It was a gorgeous evening. One of my son's classmates, Kati, came over to study, and he had put a roast in the crock pot with garlic, Italian seasoning, and a half jar of pepperoncini peppers; I made oven fries. We all sat out on the deck and ate, enjoying the sun, the breeze, the sounds of kids getting out to enjoy the nice weather. I'm just hoping that spring is actually here to stay, but there's still one last bit of firewood left for the fireplace, just in case it's needed.

Wednesday night I picked up some Nature Spun sportweight in orange and yellow to make a pair of goldfish mittens in a toddler size. One is finished, the second halfway. They're turning out really cute, and I'll post pics when they are both complete and steamed. I've also completed the rust/green granny square afghan, and it is stowed away in the cedar chest until I find a recipient. For now, here's a shot of the teacozy I made for my Secret Sister. The flowers are improvised from some scrap yarn - the pompom suggested just didn't do it for me. Yarn for the cozy is Berroco Vintage (worsted weight), a wool blend. Sometimes you can tell when someone really likes what you have gifted them, and it makes you feel great. I'd like to make one of these for myself, maybe in black with red or royal blue - my tea pot is a bright red. Go figure :)

When Daniel discovered that the apartment complex has an exercise room, he started dragging me down there. I know I know, I should have been taking advantage of it since my rent includes the use of it. We work out 1-2 days on cardio and weights, and have started going down to Creve Coeur Lake to walk. I went Wednesday after work on my own, and walked around the lake. It's a lovely hike, all paved paths, and plenty of nature to check out along the way. I expect to be making a habit of this... already I can tell a difference going up stairs.

Now let's see if I can get back to sleep for an hour or so!
