Drive-by

Listening to: absolutely nothing. *pindrop*

Projects

I spent several days at home over the Christmas holidays. Last Friday I stopped at Mom's to pick up Anna's quilt. Spent Saturday afternoon hand stitching the binding and it turned out so nicely. After I gave it to her, I took it back to do the contrast hand quilting in a few squares that I had the machine quilter leave blank. Since they are moving in a couple of weeks, I have a definite deadline to meet!!

A finish - this Virus shawl for the nurse at my primary care doctor. She is really one of the best, and when I wore mine (different colors) the last visit, she asked if I could make one for her. What color? Pink! Any pink. So... this is about as PINK as I could get! The yarn is from Whimsical Wood Yarn Co. One is Pixie Toes Sock in Wowza!, and the other is Eat Crow Sock in Mother-F*ing Girl Power.

There was a little work done on the house this weekend. All of the sheathing is up, Tyvek'd, and temporary doors on. The electric should be run in the next couple weeks - got a call yesterday afternoon from the guy who is running that construction project. Windows have been ordered and are expected mid-January. My job this week is to go through the house plans room by room and figure out where electric boxes will go, what kind, how many, etc. I would like to see the porch footings and roof planned out - not sure yet how we'll finish the porch. Several ideas have been knocked about with pros and cons for each. But we will eventually have to settle on something.

I had finished all handwork projects that I took home with me, so went digging in the yarn box and found enough Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in a lovely royal blue for Krydda. I started right in on it and have about 2/3 of the body done! The gauge is a little looser, so it works up very fast.

Holiday gatherings

Saturday evening was the gathering with Ron's sister/family and his mom. We have this down at 'the shed', this time a smoked brisket with basic trimmings. I baked rolls and a coconut pie. Daniel made Oreo Fluff and some little bacon/cheese/rotel snacks baked in the little filo cups. They went SO fast! So he made them again for Christmas Eve up at the Jones'.

Mom's Christmas Do will again be mid-January, which suits fine. Gives us all a chance to breathe and relax.
