Last Week's Finish
Friday I finished the first Christmas sweater. This one is for Cara. The back is two owls, turned sideways, with a group of 3 trees in the center. The pattern has 18 different motifs that you mix and match however you with. That afternoon Alyssa's was started. Hers is cats, and there were 24 different ones to choose from. Tough decision! It is being worked in pale lavender and dark purple, and the goal is to complete it this week.
Weekend Fun
Saturday afternoon Ron and I took a little drive. We went out to Burfordsville, to a new 'old' craft shop. It was started in the early 60s in Ava, IL, weaving very nice rugs. The granddaughter owns it now, and has moved it to an old Methodist church. She has several antique looms and makes rugs to sell - very well made and reasonably priced. The shop also has other traditional handcrafts... wood working, stained glass, quilting, and a few nice antique pieces. She offers weaving classes where you go home with a finished rug. It would give me the basics so maybe I wouldn't sell the big loom I have. That's an after Christmas thing though! And yes! I bought a rug :)
Then we drove to Lake Girardeau by the back roads, then back to Bollinger Mill. The company he works for is doing repairs on it, so lots of orange flagging around it, but it is still a pretty spot. Used to go swimming there, and I understand it is still a swimming hole.
This Week
Yesterday was physical therapy. Worked on the leg this time. It is getting so much stronger, and I'm comfortable going up stairs. Next session is Thursday. Then I really did a workout on it getting groceries (heavy basics - flour, sugar, oil, canned goods) and hauling it all up the stairs to the apartment. This morning I used up blueberries making muffins. Tonight is aquacise at the Y, which is always fun!
