Mom and Dad Update
It’s been some busy weeks, and seems like not much accomplished on the parent front. Dad is coming along slowly - good days and bad. The cardiologist increased his lasix to help with the swelling in his legs. He lost 10 pounds of fluid the first couple of days. But it means he’s got to make many trips to the bathroom. Good in a way, because he’s moving more.
Mom’s memory is going downhill. At her last Dr appt, I asked about a memory test. I really don’t like her doctor anyway, but he said it was a waste of time because he already knew she wouldn’t pass one. Beside the point. I insisted, mainly so it was documented and we’d have a baseline. She has a visit scheduled with a neurologist July 3. Seems way too long to wait, and we may pursue an alternative.
Projects
The Shortest Day Shawl is done!
It’s BIG! But nice and colorful, and drapes very nicely. A couple knit group ladies threatened to take off with it. So another Wisconsin purchase completed.
I have started a lovely sweater, Terranova by Tanis Fiber Arts. The yarn is a hand spun, hand dyed DK weight wool in a gorgeous cornflower blue. Knit top down with cables along the raglan seams, then continuing down the side seams. I’m at 5 1/2 inches below the armhole, going for about 12”.
I am already contemplating what’s next on the Wisconsin list. There’s a Stockholm sweater kit in gold wool with variegated contrast in a bulky weight. Also some smaller accessories - a couple shawls, hats, and a ‘ponchette’ kit.
Loose Ends
My time at AT&T is starting to wind down. No official word yet, but expect it soon. I’m currently training my replacement. One of my co-workers mentioned that I may also be eligible for retirement, so I need to check that out!
More to come 😊
