Catching Up

I need to get the sad news first. May 31 Dad passed. He was doing really well, PT was coming along nicely, andthere was talk about releasing him. And then he fell in the bathroom, hit his head, and never really got back to speed. Mom was able to be with him almost every day, though sometimes she wasn't entirely clear who he was. Amazingly, at the funeral, she was very clear-minded and greeted everyone at the visitation. The funeral director was able to secure a military honor service at the graveside, even thouh all we had was Dad's military ID - not his DD214. Mom was really touched by that.

May 24 was my last day with ATT. I am not knocking myself out at the moment to find another job. Right now, handling Dad's estate is a hefty job. Thankfully he was fairly prepared, and things are pretty easy to find. There's just so much STUFF. And I know Mom has no need for it, so we will need to find someone trustworthy to handle sales.

One of the things that really helped center and calm me through Dad’s illness was knitting. Go figure. I finished the Tera nova sweater, but have not blocked it yet. I don’t know how many times I reworked the cable hem on that thing! It was worked sideways from the body stitches, with the back about an inch longer than the front. I kept getting it backwards, and had to pick it out at least three times. But I am happy with it! I also finished a pair of socks and of course started another pair. I’ve also started a pullover for one of the girls using some pink washable DK weight yarn from Brown Sheep. It was gifted to me by a knit group lady who was destashing.
