Gearing Up For Fall!

Lots of moving and shaking. Last Thursday was the annual trick to Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival with the knit group ladies. What a great time! I rode up with Mary Alice, who I also shared a room with. The whole group met up at Loose Threads, a quilt shop in Janesville which is very close. I didn’t buy anything, but several ladies picked up cool projects.

I did most of my damage at the yarn vendors. Sweater quantity of two yarns - one a hand dyed alpaca blend from a vendor I bought from last year. That yarn worked up into a really luscious pullover that was finished in the dead heat of summer and hasn’t been worn yet, so looking forward to that. That was in blues, the new is yummy greens. Next big purchase is hand dyed blue long wool in a kit to make a fairly simple vest. There were also some onesie and twosie skeins for hats, mittens, and to match some from last year because I changed my mind on the project.

Projects

Finished!
Christmas stocking kit. This is for one of the knit group ladies who had an adorable boy in January (I think).

Next is a wall hanging that has been layered and pinned for oh, at least 3 years if not longer. I am determined to get some of the UFOs out of the way before starting anything new (cough cough). It is now ready to be hung as soon as I can find the cup hooks for the dowel. The others were ripped off when the ceiling collapsed and I can’t find the remainder of the package. Anyway, the photo is a bit blurred, but still recognizable.

Last time I needed to get on with Alyssa’s sweater. That’s finished now and ready to give along with a Geranium dress to match. The yarn is a washable fingering weight, and the pattern is Flax Light or Flax Sock - I have seen it both ways. Alyssa chose the color Butter.

And last for the day, Wild At Heart (Ravelry), in a fingering weight from Tuscan Rose in nicely obnoxious
colors. It was a quick fun knit and easily done without thinking much (idiot knitting).

Tomorrow I am having lunch with an old neighbor, looking forward to seeing her again. The car will be packed so I can head straight home after. Tomorrow night the family is going to the East Perry County Fair. It’s a little country fair in Altenburg, with animals and tractors and the competition building where the ladies have canned goods and quilts, etc. There’s some kiddie rides and music, and of course, food, and the night caps off with a truck or tractor pull that’s free. We always have a good time. Fried Twinkies, anyone? 😄
