Another October week

Happenings

Again, the weather has been fantastic. Cold enough at night to add another blanket, but the family that moved in downstairs must keep their furnace turned up pretty high, and the heat rises. The only time I turned mine on was after an email from management asking everyone to run their system for a few minutes to test it before the REALLY cold sets in. I do love that first run, with the smell of what - burnt dust? After that first time I won’t smell it again this season.

Tuesday I cooked a big pot of potato bacon soup. Very yummy. I had a bowl for dinner, the rest went in the freezer. I will take it home tomorrow and we’ll have the leftovers.

Tonight was the pre-weavers guild sale. The knit group ladies met up for dinner, then headed over. I only purchased 2 items this year: a purse made from handwoven fabric, with strips of denim for the weft. It is lined with a red batik, three open pockets and one large zipper pocket. Very well made. Second item was a necklace with pretty glass beads and some odd bits of pearl. I talked a while with a woman (Charlene) who used to come to knit group, but hasn’t been for a long time. She seemed interested in starting back, so I gave her time and location info. I hope she shows. Her beadwork is very professional, and she has taught classes all across the country and had some knitting patterns published.

Last time I meant to add another shot from hay hauling. This is the truck that Ronnie and I dated in. He taught me to maneuver a 3-speed with a granny low, lock out hubs for 4-wheeling on our first date.. It’s a 79 Chevy Scottsdale. There’s over 300,000 miles on it, plenty of rust, and a big dent where a deer thought he could go through at full speed. That’s the old man himself in the back, and I am driving.

Projects

A couple of items have been completed.
  • Bynx cowl is ready to gift. Or wear myself!
  • Rebecca’s squared-up jacket in worsted weight with a few alterations.

  • A bag for Mom’s walker, with pockets for a packet of Kleenex, a hanky, and some hand lotion. The fabric is from a bag she gave me a couple weeks ago.

  • Baked a batch of peanut butter cookies and froze them for TroyLee’s wedding. Next week is a batch of Snickerdoodles.
  • Cara’s dress and sweater are finished.

  • Keene sweater was washed and laid out today. I think it will take a year to dry!
