On the home front
The month of December was pretty stressful. I’m just trying to go with the flow! Other blogs I read have ‘words for the year’. I guess mine needs to be FLEXIBLE. Right before Christmas, Mom had to take a little ambulance ride to the ER. Her mind has really gone downhill, and she couldn’t take care of herself. My nephew has been living there for a while, giving what care he could, but he was just not up to the task. Mom was admitted to the hospital, then to the Lutheran Home for rehab. Because of her dementia, she is not improving. She gets very agitated and combative, and is constantly asking to go home. That is just not going to happen. So tomorrow she is being moved. The Lutheran Home doesn’t have any skilled nursing beds available, so she will go to Jackson Manor. It is not going to be easy to manage, I’m afraid. Flexible!
Projects
Irish Rover Pullover - the yarn was a Wisconsin Sheep and Wool purchase. Natural brown, Aran+ weight. The pattern leaves something to be desired, but I think I have worked through the odd wording (and wrong stitch counts). It’s a lovely design, but the writing is pretty lazy.
Baby hat - this is a Berroco Classic Elite (Ashley) kit that’s been hanging around for several years. Rainbow stripe, sock weight, toddler size. 2x2 rib edge and stockinette all the rest. It’s moving along quickly with no need to concentrate.
Socks - these are a grey heathery stripe from Gedifra, Lana Mia ‘One 4 Two’ that has a subtle dividing section to start the next sock. It’s very cushy and thick. Making them with a 72 stitch leg to fit one of the menfolk. It’s another no-thought project, and I am halfway down the first foot.
Finished - yesterday I took time to hand stitch the binding on a scrap quilt. It’s been taking up room on the sofa, but now has a place in the closet storage. The quilt fits just the top of my full mattress, but I didn’t measure, so probably twin size. Used up quite a few 3” squares.
