Typical Missouri Weather

Crazy crazy weather. Last weekend we hit 70. In January. Wednesday was snow and ice, freezing rain. Knit group was canceled. Now we are ‘sorta’ back to normal temps.

Mom seems to be doing ok. I got a call from the nursing center on Monday - she had fallen out of bed. No injuries, but still it is concerning. They aren’t allowed to put rails up, because the state in its infinite wisdom says they are restraints, and a person has a right to fall. Really? Her mattress is practically sitting on the floor, and there’s a very thick squishy pad next to it, so they are doing everything possible that is allowed.

They also said she seems very happy doing fiddly repetitive things with her hands. She goes to the laundry and they give her a pile of clean washcloths which she is thrilled to fold and stack. So I am making a fidget blanket for her. It’s just the size of her lap, with different things to keep her busy. I stuck with bright colors and various textures, and have had so much fun working on it.

Projects
Scarf - Finished yesterday, wove in ends, steam blocked. Yarn is Willow Quiver, 63% wool, 25% rayon from bamboo, 12% acrylic (think I got that wrong in the last post).

Hush - I haven’t worked on this all week but plan to focus this weekend. So far the cables are looking great, and it’s an excellent marriage of pattern to yarn.

Socks - After digging around in the sock yarn bin, I found some Kroy that had been discontinued, marked down to $2.50ish per 50 gram ball. I bought 3 because Kroy seem to have a lower yardage, but it’s also a little heftier. Since it is already striped (black, purple, teal, dark royal), I am sticking to plain vanilla stockinette. It’s pretty therapeutic, and helps me relax my jaw. Been finding lately that I am clamping my back teeth in frustration. And stress.
