Catch Up

 This and that

Lots of happenings in the last month. Some things in the news have been difficult to process, and I wasn’t sure what to say. However, a bright spot was the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival. I rode up with a couple other gals from knit group, and what an enjoyable trip! Of course we stopped at the usual quilt shop on the way, and even though I wasn’t in the market for quilt fabric, I did come away with a really nice small woven plaid in dark green and tan, enough for a western shirt for Ronnie and maybe one for Caden if I am in the mood.

I did purchase several project kits at the show and have already started and finished a couple. One thing I picked up after going back to the booth a few times and debating with myself, is a leather project bag. It’s made from repurposed leather goods, and it unzips to lay flat and open. It’s large enough to hold a couple small projects, but still not too bulky to carry. I also picked up some sock wool, and a sweater quantity from a repeat booth of last year. Just a different color.

Sunday Joe and I got through one of the closets at Mom’s. There was so much acrylic yarn, and it all went into the ‘yard sale’ boxes for Rebecca’s motorcycle club. We also pitched tons of batting scraps. They were all mismatched natty pieces of thick poly batt, which I don’t use. And I hate to say, some wool yarn was pitched because of obvious moth damage. I was sad about that, but not enough to salvage it.

Projects

Ok. Here goes.
Flax - all knitting is complete. Needs ends woven in and blocking. The yarn is a hand dyed Finnish landrace sheep wool, extremely soft, in a DK weight. This was a quick knit and the pattern was very straightforward. I did shorten the sleeves to 3/4 length and came mighty close to playing yarn chicken.

Next is a cowl kit from Ewetopia. It’s double thick and was fun to knit. Took less than two weeks even with other things going on.

I think that’s all for now. Bye!
