This and that
My last day at Home Depot was October 31. While I really enjoyed (most) of the customers, some of the other employees had the mindset of 12 year olds. And it wasn’t the high school kids! They were awesome to work with. I guess when you get adult women together, the gossip can sure fly. A couple of them were so hateful to the others, and did everything possible to put them in a bad light. And whine…oh my gosh.
But the good news is that I start a new job November 17. It’s been a long time in the works, but patience and perseverance has hopefully paid off. While I am very excited, there’s also a little fear that I won’t be able to learn everything quickly enough. I do not doubt my intelligence, but the job is something totally different from anything I have ever done before.
Saturday evening, Ron and I bought the tile for the new bathroom. It’s white ceramic with a grey vein that looks like marble, 12x12 so it shouldn’t take too long to install.
We worked over at Mom’s on Sunday afternoon. Got the bed taken apart, and sorted through the nightstand and another cabinet. It’s difficult to know what things to cull. I am torn between wanting to preserve our family’s history and memory, and knowing that we can’t save everything. Those birthday cards from 30 years ago - are they that important? The receipts from auction sales. Paperwork for things that don’t exist any longer. And on and on.
Projects
Knitting:
Alyssa’s Christmas socks finished. Yarn is Whimsical Wood sock yarn, color Gossip is the Devil’s Telephone. Pattern is Jeck.
Petals Sweater: started Nov 1 for NaKniSweMo. National Knit a Sweater in a Month. Yarn is a DK weight from Crazy Valley Farmers, purchased in WI in September. The batch is Three Grey Gals. I think it knits more like worsted weight. There seems to be LOTS of vegetable matter, and even though I caught and picked most out during winding, I am also picking more out while knitting. There seems to pattern is fairly simple, with a heavy lace yoke that went very quickly. Last night I split off the sleeves, and have about 2 inches of body complete.
Started Cara’s Christmas socks. Using a skein of XXL socks with lots of different brights. Doing a 56-stitch wide rib all the way down the leg to break up any pooling.
That’s all for now. Time to knit a little more and finish my cup of tea!
